DAY 4: YOUR VIEWS ON RELIGION

I really dislike writing about religion on my blog, because I just think it's such a personal thing.

My grandfather always said there are 2 rules you need to remember:
{1} Never do business with family
And
{2} Never discuss politics or religion.
He was a very wise man

I say this not because I don't know what I believe ~ I absolutely do. Not because I'm ashamed of what I believe, I absolutely am not. {I believe in God. The traditional God. The God of the Holy Bible. The God that handed down the 10 Commandments}.  But because it is my belief that faith is something that people hold near and dear. Most of us have formed / developed our beliefs over the course of our lifetime and there is nothing anyone can say that will change our belief system. The best that can happen is that we can have a civilized discussion, however more often than not ~ the worst happens. Each person moves to their own personal corner of belief as a starting point to the discussion, then comes out fighting; initially discussing, then cajoling and finally bludgeoning the other with our own "truth". The purity, truth and goodness goes right out the window and all that matters is "winning" one for our side.

This is the problem I have with "religion", or a prescribed doctrine. We tend to beat each other up over our differences instead of concentrating on our likenesses.

However ~ all that I said, I am a Christian. I've been saved by grace ~ done nothing to deserve it, in fact I "deserve" nothing. I'm a sinner ~ no better than anyone else in any other walk of life. That's hard to digest if you really think about it. We all say it, "I'm no better than anyone else", but do we REALLY believe it? Are we REALLY no better than the criminals, terrorists, etc. When you get down to it ~ we are not. We HAVE made better choices though, and one of those choices that I made was to become a Christian. That's all I need.

When folks want to get into arguments on religion ~ I don't get involved. I don't have a problem expressing what I believe, but I won't argue. As I said before ~ I'm strong in my believes and no one is going to change them, so I'm not vain enough to think that I could change someone else's belief's And when I'm asked, "do you REALLY believe" this or that about the bible? My answer is "yes". If I don't understand the "how", or "why" it doesn't get me all worked up. I think it because my Aunt used to say, "just wait till you get to Heaven and you can ask Jesus" ~ that's comforting to me and it's enough. I don't need a better answer, and I don't need "man" to figure out all the "how's and "why's" now I can wait.

I guess when it comes down to it ~ I believe that you should know what you believe, behave yourself cause God is always watching, and live each day as if it's your last, because each day IS someone's last.

If you really want others to know what / how you believe ~ the show them. Live the example your actions, your life will speak volumes and if anything will be a great witness to your belief's that will.
