                                             DAY 24: THE TOWN YOU LIVE IN

                                                              MANTUA, OHIO

                                                      MAYOR:: LINDA CLARK

My husband and I moved here to Mantua, Ohio October 13,2012. We couldn't have picked a better place!
It's not very big at all. If you blink going up through town you will miss it! I'm not joking!
The town has Napa Auto....McDonalds....Chase Bank....Laundry Mat....Gas Station....Vet....Eye Doctor....MD....Pizza Shop....Bar....K & K Meat Shop....Two small restaurants....Info Center....A Drug Store and The High School up the road.
I almost forgot someone just opened up a small Ice Cream shop, That's good at least now I don't have to take 20 minutes to get a Ice Cream Cone.

I don't live in town, It's more country. We live along the Cuyahoga River.

When we was moving here I did some reading on Mantua, Ohio to get some history about it.

Mantua received the first settler that entered Portage Country, anticipating four other townships by about six months. It was originally the property of the "Suffield, Cuyahoga And Big Beaver Land Company," all the members of which, some sixteen in number, lived in Suffield, Conn. This company owned three other townships, but at the drawing the land now comprising Mantua fell to the lot  of David, Fidelio and Ebenezer King, Jr., and Martin Sheldon, Gideon Granger, Thomas Sheldon and Oliver Phelps, also owned small parcels of the land, and Ebenezer Sheldon afterward purchased a part of Martin Sheldon's interest. It was then known as Town 5, Range 8. The township was surveyed by David Abbott into tracts of 420 acres each, there being forty ~ two lots. Abbott took two quarter lots, northwest quarter of Lot 29 and southeast quarter of Lot 23. He was a member of the convention that formed the first constitution of Ohio.

Throughout the year, the Village of Mantua has many special events, including the Mantua Potato Festival, The Soap Box Derby, Art on the Hill, Music in the Mini ~ Park, A Summertime Farmer's Market, and more.

The Village of Mantua is the perfect place to indulge your love of the outdoors. Kayaking, Canoeing, and fishing are idea ways to enjoy the beautiful stretch of the Cuyahoga River.

Mantua, Ohio is the home of  Jack Lambert {Former Pittsburg Steeler ~ Retired 1984 & Hall Of Fame 1990}.
